Final Education - A Novel of Empires Both Vapid and Grand

Final Education - A Novel of Empires Both Vapid and Grand, By , free

CHOSEN to partake in a government initiative known only as 'the Program', Cawdor High's graduating students are quick to find their old rivalries and alliances playing out on a scale grander than any one of them could have ever imagined. Given control of fourteen ancient civilizations within an immense virtual world, the hundred teenagers must engage their foes, protect their allies, and safeguard their own interests leveraging all the powers of human history.

In high school, Lex Ryerson had never been outgoing, outspoken or even remotely popular, but as a member of the fledgling Blue faction, he finds himself emerging as a powerful player in a world forged by the capricious nature of the teenage psyche. The Blues rise to early prominence as they and their neighbouring nations find themselves embroiled in political intrigue and worldwide conflict that could spell doom at any moment for one or all.

Spears and swords make way for cannons and guns, with warships and nuclear power thrusting the Program down an increasingly hazy path of warfare and politics. In a world birthed by the collective consciousness of a hundred teenaged minds, how many will be able to tread its narrow paths between sweeping glory and utter decimation?

For its enablers, the answer will be their final education.

Ruin's Wasteful Entrance Series: Marius Besshaven, Book 1

Ruin's Wasteful Entrance

By , free

House of Atreus, meet the House of Frost. The rambling estate in the wooded hills of southern Ohio hides secrets. Murder begetting murder. Wickedness leading to more wickedness. It’s a story as old as time itself.

Cast into this world after the death of his parents, young Marius Besshaven seeks the truth about his mother’s past, about his own identity. Cryptic messages in unlikely places, the fractured memories of unreliable survivors, the haunting voices of ghosts--from these elements Marius will have to piece together his family’s history. And what will become of him? Will he find ruin, like so many who came before him? Will he find resolution? Or will the curse continue?

From loudspeaker-muted atrocities on the killing fields of Nazi-occupied Poland to lavender-scented murder in the estate’s hidden garden, the tragedies of the past touch the lives of the present and no one will ever be the same.

The Ruins on Stone Hill By F.P. Spirit

The Ruins on Stone Hill, By , free

Magic is easy, or so Glolindir thought. That is until he came face to face with his very first live monster. Casting spells was not so simple with death breathing down your neck. Good thing the fledgling elven wizard was not alone, or his story might have ended before it began. Thanks to Seth, the mysterious halfling who just might be an assassin, Lloyd, the tall Spiritblade who wields his fiery swords like a whirlwind, and Aksel, the little gnome whose very touch can heal almost any wound, they all somehow survive.

That is just the beginning of their troubles though, for dark shadows hang over the little seaport town of Ravenford. Sent by the enigmatic wizard, Maltar, to map out the ruined keep southwest of town, the gifted young teens quickly find themselves in the center of mystery and danger. From dark caves to underground passages, hidden rooms, magical mirrors, occult rituals, bandits, evil priests, dark magicians, and monsters, they face constant peril. Will they be able to rise to the challenge and truly become the Heroes that Ravenford so sorely needs?

For the King

For the King, By , free

Shiloh was supposed to die. The assassins meant to kill the entire royal family that cold winter morning. They tried to kill her, of course. The Fallen couldn't allow the king and queen's only daughter to survive. But Shiloh's heart kept beating. Left to die in the dirt, she was spirited away to safety by a woman and her grandson, Aden.

Ten years later, Shiloh is no longer the girl she once was. Trained for combat and in the powerful position of having nothing left to lose, she is determined to join the Redemption army formed to oppose Orjak and his followers—a regime he proudly calls the Fallen. How else will Shiloh be granted access to the men who murdered her parents? She intends to return the favor.

When Shiloh hears that Redemption recruiters are passing through a nearby village, she sets out with Aden and their trainer to enlist. But they soon find that their journey won’t be so simple. As the three of them fight to survive the treacherous path to Headquarters, Shiloh begins to see that their pasts refuse to be forgotten. That their histories are intertwined in a way she never expected. That the time has come to confront her feelings for Aden.

But reaching their destination is only half the battle. When situations suddenly threaten to expose her true identity as the lost princess, Shiloh learns that her role in the Redemption will require a strength she’s not sure she possesses. And as war finally descends upon the realm, Shiloh may be forced to put aside her thirst for revenge to ensure the survival of her parent’s kingdom, and perhaps even save the boy who first saved her.

Dominion

Dominion, by Bobbie Bretana, free

I wasn't looking for fame and fortune, just hanging out with my girl and having a good time. Like going to the Grand Opening of the National Air and Space Museum before anyone else did. Of course, the Secret Service dudes were a pain but I was used to them, my Dad being a US Senator. Oh yeah, there was a pair on Licce, my girl. She's the President's daughter. Not that it wasn't cool. What was really cool---I can go inside your pet's head, see what they see, hear what they hear. No, I don't look in on Licce when she's wearing those short pink PJs in her White House bedroom. Trouble was, someone found out and now they want me. Someone in the government. So, I ran. Didn't et far and now, I'm really in trouble---

The second book in the series, Dominion 2: Courage, is now available. Note: A small caution for 'strong' language.
