The Keepers of Faubourg-Marigny, Part I

The Keepers of Faubourg-Marigny, Part I, by Kristin Kulzer, free

In Part I of The Keepers of the Marigny-Faubourg, when Alene decides to spend her summer break in New Orleans working at a busy bar to overcome her broken heart, she never expects to meet a handsome, charming gentleman like Perrin Boudreaux.  Everything about Perrin is a mystery, from his old-fashioned clothes to the priceless coins he leaves as tip at the bar. But Alene’s never fallen in love like this before. Even though the further she digs into Perrin’s past, the more terrified she becomes, she can’t help but feel an undeniable connection to him and want to know more.  Evidence suggests that Perrin was a Civil War soldier who tried to stow away aboard a pirate ship that sank over a century ago, and neighborhood legend has it that souls lost in that historic shipwreck roam the Faubourg-Marigny District in search of young maidens, referred to as Keepers, to lure down to their watery graves. Could it be possible that Perrin’s a supernatural being, or is Alene losing her mind?
